A question for those with experience with V. gouldii

samsun Aug 10, 2005 09:16 PM

I read that gouldii monitors can become quite tame in captivity, as opposed to the panoptes. Have you found this to be true? They seem so similiar--I have trouble believing one is much calmer than the other. Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Argus do seem to be alot more direct and upfront, which in some cases makes them easy to deal with. Argus are definitely not for the faint of heart, they are pretty bold but almost entirely bluff (except for tail whipping). My Goulds are more laid back, but neither argus or goulds of mine really enjoy any sort of handling.
