im looking to get another monitor i was first looking at a water but then saw some pics of adults and that is just way tomuch for me to handle right now(15 yrs old)

what is an avg size for an adult like 3.5-4 ft

with 2 ft of dirt
what would be a better door for them
top side or front
and are they an monitor you can take out and they will not mind being handled like an ackie or be like a nasty bt or croc (not all i know look at sobec(shavar) it is like a dog tamed monitor

thanks for eveyones help

THese are awesome monitors. Here is my enclosure, front opening but can get hairy at feeding time. 7x5x4 feet dimensions. I have two crosses in this enclosure.

Not sure about everyones but mine don't like it. In fact they hate being handled. The only time they enjoy me being around is when I have food.

Don't get me wrong I like them they are an awesome monitor. But if your looking for a monitor that is easily held and enjoys it I wouldnt suggest them. But hey I am sure someone has a nice calm argus out there.

Awesome monitors, but not for handling.

I think people underestimate just how intimidating a 4' male argus can be, especially to a new monitor keeper.

After they learn to trust you they will act differently about it or they may not. An example you brought up Sobek my albig, she enjoys contact with people shes knows well, a few people, but doesnt mind most others as being near her, there are however those that she will dislike upon sight of them and possibly never view differently. She doesnt mind when I pick her up if shes in the mood for it, someone else tries this and she mostly will not allow it, believe me if she doesnt want you to hold her, you cant. If you got past the tail whipping and she doesnt want picked up, shes so strong, and amazing quick, the only way to hold her at that point is to pin her down and hold on tight (if she gets spooked by someone or something). Shes doing great by the way, finally shedding revealing some wonderful colors and pattern.
Argus are neat, and can be very intimidating, they will either run from you, or run at you, a defensive behavior. You would be amazed how even a small argus will stand its ground, they are fast to. My flaviargus is young yet and just like some others (Sobek, the ackies, and storrs) enjoys being underground frequently. A cornered 5ft argus can be very intimidating to attempt to capture, like mentioned earlier even at 4ft they are.

Is 6ft 3.5 inches and 30lbs. She live alone in a 10x5x4ft cage, she spends alot of time underground.

first you need to research arguses better(no offense)
they get about 5 ft and eat a ton! just be prepared to pay alot for mice if you are not breeding some. you also need a cage that is at least twice as long as the monitor and half that deep. they are very cool and active varanids.
i hope i was some help. later
