if you get a pair of argus monitors, you'll need to have two cages. sometimes you can get lucky to find a pair that lives together peacefully. but often times there's aggression issues that can easily lead to the death of one. a pair will require a very large cage.

it's common for females to lay between 6 and 12 eggs.

WC argus are very common. so is captive hatched. don't buy either. there is plenty of CB argus babies out there.

I might be mistaken but aren't Panoptes an austrailian goanna and therefore are all captive bred? Or do they inhabit an offshore island that allows exporting of wildlife?

there's 3 subspecies of v.panoptes.
1, v.panoptes panoptes
2, v.panoptes rubidus
3, v.panoptes horni

the first two live in Australia and do not exist in america for the most part. however v.panoptes horni lives in Papua New Guinea and is exported to america on a regular basis.
