I use rodents mainly mice as the staple then chicks and anything else after that.

Actually the size of a cage does go hand in hand with the size of your animal. Lets say I have a salvator and keep it in a 40 gal. tank. It will not grow to it's maximum size in it. It will grow to what its enviroment allows. It will not grow until it fills or cracks the tank. Eventually that enviroment will no longer be able to sustain the animal within it. It's choices will be limited.

I feed mice, rats, and baby rabbits. I will try chicks when my hen starts laying. It should start laying eggs in a month or 2.

Way Off Topic:
I havent had a problem with flees, ticks, or any other bugs in my yard or on my dogs/cat since I got some chickens. They are fairly tame and eat the bugs in my yard. If anyone has a large yard, chickens rule and can give you feeders.

I trade rabbits for mice and rats at a local pet shop. I get feeders and don't have to mess with stinking mouse pee or rack systems
