substrate critters

ahphule Sep 05, 2003 02:52 PM

I'm looking for a source of edible substarte critters to add to my tanks. right now I seed all my tanks with springtails, grindal worms and some pillbugs( though I'm no sure the frogs eat these). But I want to add more varieties of insect life both for sake of a more diverse menu and some clean up. Anybody want to trade cultures?

I have

Java moss use it in tadpole tanks and as a ground cover
springtails
scuds ( freshwater mysis shrimp) trying out in tadpole tanks
seed shrimp ( mini daphnia- aquatic detritivores(sp)
grindal worms ( mini whiteworms -about a half inch long
I also have some rice flour beetles

None of the cultures are from tanks that have frogs or ever had frogs so they should be clean ie parasite free.

Got any millepedes sowbugs pillbugs, ants silverfish wood roaches
interesting mosses ( enough form a tasty moss shake) that I can culture to add to the diversity when I start a tank let me know?

Should be fun!!!

TIA

PS

Can probably scare up some

sinningia pusilla seed. a cool miniaturen flowering plant

I've always been intrigued by in situ feeder sources, and I think you and I could have a lot to discuss. Do you have AIM or msn messenger? If so, my AIM s/n is Lizardboy86, and my hotmail is frankie_williams86@hotmail.com .
