Stupid question...

Solidarity Oct 27, 2005 11:49 AM

This is probably a kind of stupid question, but how long do monitors generally sleep in one sitting?

Really the only reason I ask is because my BT just arrived yesterday, it ate about 6 crickets sometime between 6 and 10pm, I was out for the evening, when I returned all the crickets were gone, but he was sleeping in his burrow when I got home. Pretty much he has been sleeping in the burrow for the last 12 hours, is that normal? I figured he would be basking?

Perhaps he already basked for an hour or so while I was gone, or maybe he's just tired from his stressful trip and new home.

Am I overreacting here? :P

Ambient temps: 92* Hot end, 81* cool end
Basking spot surface temp: Max reading 129*
55-60% Relative Humidity
Hide Burrow(which I made) is at the cool end.

I thought about the situation and kinda analyzed my enclosure set up.

Turns out he prefers the heat, he just likes to hide!
I made a second tunnel for him on the hot side which goes directly under his basking rock and he moved to that tunnel sometime last night.

He'll probably be more open minded to coming out when I'm around in a week or two, I hope

Thanks guys

You answered your own question. Good job!!!

I am sure he will relax and come out eventually.
