dimitris May 20, 2006 02:38 PM

Hi, im from Mexico, monitors are really hard to find pets here, some pet store is selling a almos 2 feet white throat monitor wich i assume is wild caught, the animal is healthy, eating, but he doesnt like to be handled, he doesnt bite but try to escape, hits with his tail, and all the show you know, but he doesnt bite, my question is do you think that with time and pacience he might become tame, or is it too late due to his size?? they a re laso selling a 20 inches normal sav, wich is the best choice for eventually having a tame monitor?? thank for the help.

Personly, I would go with the albig. If it is just tailwhipping and bluffing, you might have a good chance of earning it's trust with a little bit of work and patience.

A 2 ft long Albig is still considered being a "baby" considering how big they can grow. I agree with Kap in getting the WT if all it's doing is hissing and tailwhipping. Just take your time with it and it will come around.

No he will never, in my opinion, be "tame" or like to be held. Cacthing wild animal, carnivous at that, is dispicable, and even if you caould tame it you should not get him because it is promoting the capture of wild animals. If you don't buy it and no one else will buy it maybe they will stop. Remember that he will always remember hunting, scavaging, wide terrain, and basically anything a wild caught lion would remember.
