eating problems

polydaedalus Jun 01, 2006 01:58 PM

ive had a 2ft bt for about 4mnths now
i cant seem to convince him to eat frozen mice he only accepts crickets and some ground turkey mix
turkey= 1 1/3 lbs lean ground turkey
1 lbs 97%lean ground beef
3 small fertile chicken eggs(local)
bonemeal
some various supplements
a smidgon of veggies
he seems to be growing on this fairly well
hes gone from 14"-24" in 4 mnths i just recently offersd him a live small adult mouse and he took that! but he wont take frozen
i wouldnt mind continuing to feed him this but its costing me a fortune! if i feed live mice theycost about $1.69 per 1, anything bigger goes into the$5-$10 range for 1 rat

thanx
mike

How are you thawing the mice?
If you are just letting them sit out and thaw, try soaking them in warm water.
The only time I ever say an albig turn down a meal, it was either sick or the husbandy was way off.

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

i have been just lettin 'em sit so i will try warm water,
though direwctly in water or seperated by a plastic baggie?
i found out the hard way about microwaves, yuck, lol
just a quick qeustion though, what is the normal growth rate for a healthy BT?
ive had him for 4 mnths and the 1st month he barely grew but the last three he has grown 10" longer, i thougt this was pretty good?
could it be im spoiling him on his favorite stuff so he knows hes gonna get it, so why eat a mouse?
he does eat like 30 or more crickets aday and just a little turkey
do you want a description of the cage and husbandry?
i will try to post apic of the cage but my @#$% card reader is broke!
