Substrate?

missmonitor Mar 19, 2007 09:00 AM

Would play sand be a good substrate? If not what is the ratio of dirt to sand in the mixture? I've tried just plane dirt but it was all clumpy and hard to break up. Any other tips would be accepted greatly.

Proexotics said they are using decomposed granite. In my neck of the woods that is called stone dust. They said it provides a good media for burrowing. Check out their site. I have a soil mulch combination now. My Blackthroat is burrowing in it. I'm going to investigate the granite dust when the garden centers open.
