i have heard that crickets have tendency to chew through the cage sides, is this true? and if so any way to avoid it?

thanks, was debating getting one cause the glass terrarium i have my baby veiled in is too enclosed and not enough air circulating, think im gonna go ahead and buy a reptarium.
what makes a good substrate for the reptariums, i've been using the fake soil you can get at the pet store, it helps with the humidity and my live plant can soak up water out of it... reptarium would be hard to use that stuff.

Reptariums. Some like em, others don't. Myself, I LOVE them!
Yes, crickets can chew through the mesh if you're not careful. The best way to avoid this is not to allow too many crickets to free roam in your cage in the first place. Either cup feed, or don't leave the crix in there overnight. Better for your chameleon if you do this anyways.
