i have been reading up on black throats and hope to get one here in a month or so as soon as i get the cage built and everything ready.

one question i do have (after i get the lizard many more will come, naturally) is why do people sift the dirt? and how is the easiest way to do this?

it seems that is the most common substrate for them and i wonder if this is just for those that are digging it from there backyard, or if i just buy some, if i still have to sift it, and why.

oh and if i do buy it, what kind is suggested?

THanks-

Dan.

Dan I can only talk for me, I sift dirt to avoid braking glass, monitors are excellent diggers, they can claw a larger stone with pretty impressive velocity. Other then this theirs no rezones to sift dirt as every stones are valuable, they hold moisture and help in holding borrows.

Tack your dirt in ground hog territory, these critters know dirt.

That is pri the best idea I have heard about the ground hogs. I look for dirt all the time, but never thought of that.
