haha I was hoping you didn't want to feed them frozen mice cicles.

There really is nothing wrong with feeding live, it gives your monitor some stimulation and exercise chasing down the prey. I feed mine live every now and again.

The benefit to feeding frozen is price and quantity. I can buy alot more frozen and store them then I can live. The only other thing would be you won't have to worry about your monitor getting bit. I use tongs to feed my monitors and will let them jump or run to grab it. This also provides a little stimulation for them.

As for thawing I just grab my buckets toss in the mice, rats, or chicks. Then turn on the hot water and fill the bucket. Let it sit for awhile and drain it then fill it one more time. Check to be sure they are thawed and then feed away.

You can also set them out but it takes longer, or you could set them under a heat light too I suppose. I prefer the water in the bucket method.

thanks for the tip with the buckets seams like a pain in the a$$ though i think i will try to breed my own first

The reason I use them is I am feeding alot of reptiles at any given time. So I need to thaw 100's of feeders at once. Therefor having 3-4 buckets sitting around and filling them with water is much easier then any other method of thawing so many at a time.

People who feed only a few animals could use the sink, or a small bucket. The less you have to thaw the faster they will thaw for you.

You think it is a pain but you want to breed your own? With breeding you now will have to feed and water the mice. You also have to clean up after them. You have to wait for them to reproduce and possably rasie up the little ones before feeding. This depends on what size of food item is needed. You will have to wait until your supply can keep up with the demand before you can start subtracting from it.

To me that is alot more work then to simply thaw them out and feed them.
