I let my monitors swim in my pool. I however won't let them if I have just treated the water. Typically a day or two after I may let them. I have never had any problems from doing so.

But I will leave the judgment of your monitors upto you, as I do not know how you treat your pool.

I always am swimming in it with them. Not all of them like or will stay in the water for along time. A few just swim back out and are done. Others swim around get out then get back in.

If they are too small to climb out of the pool then I toss in something that floats so they can climb on it.
