Nile questions

kdpboa Feb 07, 2006 09:58 PM

Do Nile's do just as well when kept solitary, or do they enjoy having company?

I have a three and a half month old Nile, and was wondering if I could add feeder goldfish into his diet. What's the best way to get them to eat frozen/thawed pinkies? Just leave them in the enclosure? I tried that today, and he didnt seem intereseted at all.

If anyone has some pictures of their adult Nile enclosures I would greatly appreciate them, and also the dimensions.

Thanks a lot,

Kevin Parsons

You can keep two femal niles together, but with two males in the same cage u better call the po-pos and get yourself a can of mase. two males will constantly fight around the clock. i feed my guys with a pair of tongs. My newest nile which is about 4 months now just over 2 feet long is eating everything! hoppers, live or dead, chopped up rats, grilled chicken, night crawlers, comets of any size, cocktail shrimp, turtle food, fish food, ground turkey, snails, clams, the list goes on...
um yeah so my new baby knows that when i hold the tongs shes getting fed. also the thing that i am shocked about is that i havnt been bit by her in over 2 months! shes more of a runner/flee-er. dont get me wrong she will put up a fight when shes pissed off but very rarly. she has the temperment of a savannah or a tegue. hope this helps
