Getting baby Nile to eat, suggestions?

metaldad904 Apr 11, 2006 06:51 AM

Hi,
I have a baby Nile i got on Sunday. He's really tiny right now, like 5 or 6 inches. My problem is i haven't seen him eating yet. I have offered crickets, feeder fish, mealworms, superworms, pinkies. He doesn't seem interested in them at all. He seems more concerned w/watching me lol. Any suggestions for me to get him eating steadily?

thanks for any help

Hey... ight so u got this nile that wont eat? Most likly it wont eat when u watch it. Once adjusted to its new home, it will start pinning down food as soon as you lose eye contact or you leave the room, crickets, cooked eggs, tuffys, night crawlers, anything! also make sure that you have a basking spot of at least 100 degrees. Ontop of that provide plenty of hiding spots. What i like to do with my baby niles is take about 3 or 4 papertowel tubes and bury them under aspen. that provides some nice haiding places. I also recemend keeping them in no smaller than a 20g long as a hatchling, since they will be well over 27 inches by the first year.
