Hello everyone. I've posted this in the lizard section but I figure this may be a bette palce for this. My girlfriend realy wants a Nile Monitor. Well, wanted a Nile Monitor. I think I've convinced her not to go that route just yet. It's nothing to do with reputations of Niles. It's about their size at this point. I have a 10' Boa Constrictor. So my time is taken up with taking care of him. She loves Niles. She just doesn't have the experience with large herps. I want to find her a monitor that she can get experience with before she jumps in with a Nile. Can anyone suggest a Monitor she can look into that has near the same temperment as the Nile but won't get to the size of one? Something that will give her a taste and if it's too much I will still be able to take care of along with my Boa? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Along with any reputable dealers or sites that I may read up on and have her read up on? I'm in Los Angeles if there are any good breeders around here that I could talk to and have her talk with. I've only ever dealt with snakes. Tho i've been dealing with them for a little over 15 years. I would realy like her to be able to talk with someone knowledgable in the subject. Along with her readings she has been doing on the net. Thank you everyone.
