no, you shouldnt even be givig him a bath anyways. just give him a water dish large enough for him to get into and he'll be fine.

Yea he has a big water dish but when i clean his cage n wut not i like to let him soak in the tub.

well if you must soak him only use water that comes up to his shoulders. if he has to swim for a long period if time he could get really stressed and not to mention, exhausted, possibly to death if left in there too long.

(I'm a newbie, only had him for 3 weeks, rescue) I only have a terrarium with a small water dish. In an effort to familiarize us, I take my NILE monitor out of the cage every day for an hour long bath. I know he gets enough to drink, and gets nice and warm in there. Also, my tap water is safe directly into a fish tank... My Nile is 30 inches long. I only put enough water to cover him and allow swimming which he seems to love. If he stands still, he lifts his head WAY out of the water if he's alone. But the second I peek in the bathroom door he dunks his head under, and closes his eyes. I think he's got that semi-transparent protective extra eyelid. Could just be the colorization though.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, NILE MONITORS can dive for up to an hour. I don't know if that's for hunting or hiding, but I've read it everywhere. At any rate, I wouldnt want to exhaust my Nile monitor. Throw a towel in there he can climb up onto if you're really worried about it.
