Nice lookin monitor. I just got one a month ago. Hows his dispostion? Does he scramble to his hides when he sees you?

if i get close to his cage he does but he is in a high traffic area so he is used to us walking by. he is eating crickets like crazy. cant get him to eat a small mouse yet but maby when he gets a bit bigger.

Oh they get big arlight... i dunno if you have ever had a water monitor-i know your experienced with reptiles... but i had mine a month and he has significantly grown a few inches... unreal man.... his heads even seemed to grow about a half inch... checked out your site, nice boas... i love red taileds and hopefully i will one day be in a financial situation to breed them.

GOOD LOOKING MONITOR HEY WITH MY FIRST WATER HE WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH PINKYS BUT HE ATE SUPERWORMWS LIKE CRAZY. I ACTUALLY CUT THE PINKY IN HALF AND HE WENT RIGHT TO IT AND ATE THE WHOLE THING.

I find it very suprisinging that neither of yours would eat pinkies at a young age... mine was 12 inches and a month younger then now and thats all he eats... he is going to grow very, very, very fast... i like that though.

i have a baby water about the same size as yours, he just shed (the yellow is showing great) so if he actually gets the courage to come out of his burrows ill snap a few.

Congrats! He's a good lookin' little guy!

One word, if possible try to provide a little bit more of a sight block so he feels a little more secure in the cage. Just because he's not always reacting to people doesn't mean he's not stressing out. The key with these guys when they're really young is to provide them with plenty of opportunities to hide and "escape" (within the cage of course). By nature they're terrified of anything larger than them. Keep the stress levels down to help ensure that all his little systems are in good healthy shape and ready to grow.
