Bad Shed/Decrease in Appetite

ThaDragonSlayer Apr 19, 2006 09:41 AM

I have 2 savs that are a year old each. Sav 1 eats great and sheds w/no problems. Sav 2 has recently had a major decrease in appetite. I noticed part of his back was scabby and that he's having a hard time shedding. The temps are 130degrees in the basking spot and 85 degrees in the cool spot. Could the bad shed be contributing to his lack of appetite and what can I do to help him shed better and to improve his appetite?

The reason why hes having a hard time shedding is the humidity in his cage is too low. When you cant keep the humidity high you should soak him in shoulder deep water at least once a week and whiles hes shedding.

Thanks for replying. I keep the humidity at in between 50-65 percent. Also if the humidity was/is the issue, it doesnt appear to be bother the other sav. He sheds with no issues and his appetite is fine....

Does he stay under the 130 basking spot often? Or does he seem to move away after a while?

He spends most of his time soaking. I dont notice him spending much time basking. He's still very active but refuses f/t mice but will accept live mice....
