Subterrainian Heating

tomcatwailing Jun 08, 2006 12:47 PM

Hey guys, I'm moving my Sav into a larger enclosue and am confronted with choosing new heat. Until now I've just used the undercage, adhesive heaters that you can pick at any petstore, but never feel like they're doing an adequate job given the soil depths for Savannahs. (What's the best way to do a reliable bottom temperature read?) Using a traditional heat blanket for a couple of Kenyan sand boas, but they are infamous for starting house fires. Can anyone recommend a high quality undercage heat source? (I do also use an above cage heat source)

The only heat source I have ever used were the basking lights.
They need cool areas, such as deep substrate to cool off and thermoregulate.
