another growth post

iv had my sav for probly 4 or 5 months. when i got him he was about 13 or 14 inches. now he is about 16 inches. after a while iv finally gotten the feeding thing down. at first it seemed id overfeed him cause he would get real fat for a few days then look skinny again. now i spread it out. i feed him 25 or 30 dusted crickets twice a week. a few f/t medium mice a few times a month and an occasional few spoonfools of very high quality 95% meat dogfood when im out of the other foods. ( i know its not recommended here though most books iv read have actually recomended it supplementarily in small doses, which is how i do it.)
iv come to the conclusion to try and keep him relatively plump, but not fat or skinny, though the little bugger gets skinny after like 2 days usually no matter how fat he is.
im just wondering if 2 inches in 5 months is alright. iv been told by a lot of past sav owners that he should be growing much faster. is this any indication of adult size? iv heard of some savs stopping growing after 1.5 to 2 feet and some hitting almost six, so im wondering if early growth can give me a clue.
thanks for your time if any of you longer term owners have any advice, or even just replying saying you dont know and maybe including some cool pics

First off, I'm not an expert long-time keeper like some of these guys on the forum here are - but I've had my sav for nearly a year now and he eats like 100 locusts per week - I give him 3 small mice 2-3 times a week. No dog meat - it's for dogs, not lizards.

2inches in 5 months doesn't sound quite right to me - mine grew like a weed (and he's not fat nor skinny). He is about 2 1/2 feet or just under in length. Savs should not stop at 1 1/2 - 2 feet fully grown - typically they get to 3 1/2 - 4 feet and sometimes bigger (but I don't think 6 feet).

Hopefully some of the multiple-sav people will come here as well and add their input.

It sounds like you should be feeding him more - or at least more often. Try a handful of crickets every day. A mouse every other day. There is no automatic calendar anyone can really give you - but smaller meals closer together seems to be a better alternative.
Also, size is not an indicator of age. Baby monitors should grow like weeds, with growth slowing as they get older. Just because your monitor was 13 inches when you got him does NOT automatically mean he was a young monitor... If you purchased him not knowing FOR SURE his age, the possibility that he is a stunted older monitor is likely. Hence the slower growth rate.
