Feeding eggs

AnimalSquabbles Sep 30, 2006 09:45 PM

I tried feeding my baby savanah an egg, I cracked the shell alittle to soften it and just watched. I thought he wouldnt figure out it was food. After a while he started looking at it and then started trying to bit the egg but he is too small and couldnt get through the shell and after awhile lost interest. So broke the egg open and the insides leaked out a little and he came back and ate a little bit of it. Is this a good idea?

It's good if you try to offer you monitor a variety of diet, but personally, I used rodent as the primary food. Whole prey is always better. Sav exclusively fed on invert diet will have a serious health issue because Sav are too big and need something more substantial like whole rodents or a day old chick. I hope this help you!

I usually hardboil the egg then take the shell off and cut it into manageable slices. I feed it with mice or ground turkey. My monitor really likes the eggs. Hope it helps!
