So as you all know I recently got a sav he's 5 inches now. He eats crickets but once in a while he'll get a pinky. It was really funny to watch him eat the pinky. He bit it and gripped it for 10 minutes and fell asleep with a pinky in his mouth. I had to poke him to wake him up and he realize he has a pinky in his mouth, then he ate it. Like recommended I switch from mulch/bark to dirt. I made it half mulch/bark and half soil. Anyways, I've noticed that since he burrowed a hole under the rock on the dirt side, he spends most of his time in there, I don't see him basking anymore. Question is, is this normal?

Do you see any tiny little empty beer cans laying around in the enclosure? If not he may be normal.

Since no one else has answered I'll take a shot. Its normal for a monitor such as yours to burrow and hide. I can't say anything else about what else might be going on.
