It is more that they suck the humidity out of the cage by heating it and the heat rising and taking the humidity with it out the screen top. You just make an oven.
I think if I had a baby to raise tomorrow I would get a 90qt sterlite tub and melt some holes with my soldering iron. Airflow without so much humidity loss.
Cover the top of the tank with as much plexi as you can while allowing the light. Low wattage with just the right hot spot temp (100-110) I think for an infant.
What do you have in the tank for substrate?
Aim for dirt, a couple hides, shallow water dish, loads of bugs to eat introduced often. Sorry, I am not coming up with details but you are getting the picture.

and are you saying to cover the screen lid on the 20 gallon with plexiglass?

Low watt bulb over a raised basking site, add the dirt, make it as deep as possible.
You can use tin foil leaving a small area for the lite.
Get a temp gun and a digital therometer with a probe and humidity reading.

If the light sits ontop of the screen top be sure to leave the area where the light is open, no plexiglass directly under it, and leave about 1 inch of the opposite end of the screen top uncovered for the heat to escape, making a good thermal gradient.

Screen tops really aren't good for any reptiles because of what Sonya said, drying the cage out. I've used a many of 'em, though, but I covered the majority of the screen to stop or slow the evaporation. You can even keep it simple by using a plastic garbage bag, just something to help retain humidity.

Take care!

I have my sav in a 90 gal glass tank for now. I have been wetting down a towel every morning and covering the screen top with it. It helps to hold the humidity and creates some too. I also have 1 foot of a soil/sand mixture that also hold humidity pretty well. Good Luck. -john-
