Retes stack question

Are Retes stacks recommended for Savannahs? I remember reading something way back about how they're not designed for all monitors, something to do about the species spine? I search the archive but couldn't find anything. Is this true or am I nuts?

I can't see how that could be true. Just make sure it is sized correctly.
