New to forum introduction...

aanata1 Sep 10, 2008 03:32 AM

I figured it was time. I just started perusing this forum as I have started to get into Corns. My name is Christy, but I go by Aanata as well and I'm a grad student at UCSD for organic chemistry. My first snake was an amel corn snake. I've had her now for 7 years. Since then I've owned a slough of various species: blood pythons, kenyan sand boas, brazilian rainbow boas, boa constrictors, and who doesn't own a few leopard geckos (they're just so cute!). Anyway, the brazilian rainbows really captivated me and before I knew it, I was amassing a small breeding army. Then got into BCIs and got a "few" of those to breed too. But then I looked at my darling Ate` the first snake and decided it was time to add a few corns to the mix. So here I am trying to learn all the "tricks of the trade" all over again. So I'm sure I'll have lots of questions, like what exactly is a lava... is that the blood amel, or a morph of it's own? So thanks in advance for helping me along, and if there's any questions I can help with, from my vast knowledge of boas and such, I'll try to return the favor

Welcome to the forum!.......

Amel Bloodreds are also known as "Fire" corns in the hobby. They involve the much more common hypo type A.

The morph known as "Lava" are a high orange Okeetee type corn that has a new form of hypomelanism(hypo type C), that is not compatible with the other known types.

Additionally, another morph of cornsnake that is very brightly orange colored, involves yet another form of hypomelanism, hypo type B that is incompatible with the other two I mentioned. These bold colored snakes are known as "Sunkissed".

best regards, ~Doug

No Problem, I just want to make sure I understand what is going on sometimes. It was bad enough learning the difference between a paradox and a paradigm in boas, now there are fires and sunkissed on top of that! So confusing! I'll get it all eventually

Oh, and I love the homer pic!!
