Snake Rack

sooperscoot Sep 10, 2008 03:52 PM

Hi, Ive had snakes for many years now and wanted to try breeding and corns seemed like a good place to start. Now, I plan on building a snake rack and was woundering tub size. Whats a good size for an adult corn? I know they dont require a whole lot of room but I dont want to go too small.

The tubs with the floor dimensions of 15 x 22 inches are pretty much the standard size for an adult corn snake rack. I think these size tubs work well for all but the largest corns.

I used 41Q Sterilite tubs and for me they are the perfect size for my corns and San Diego Gophers. I could have gone smaller but I wanted a tad bit more room, especially when I put the males and females together. I attached a pic of the finished racks (2 side by side) and the link is to an article I wrote describing my process. I am no carpenter/handy man so it was some trial and error. They aren't perfect but they have worked very well for me.

Thanks for the advice. Nicely done on the racks ken.

No problem, I hope you can use some of the info for inspiration for your racks. They actually went up easier than I thought and have made maintenance and feeding a lot simpler. Good luck with your rack.

Allthread is a great idea. With manufacturers constantly changing the dimensions of their racks, a little fine adjustment is always a good idea

It sure is. And so flexible to accomodate different size tubs for eeach level, if needed. I have a few racks that use Allthread and it works great.
