Blue-Eye Lucy

mlpetros Sep 10, 2008 08:38 PM

We were fortunate enough this season to produce 3.1 Lucy`s. Here`s a nice close-up of one of our males. Special thanks to Mike Patula for the use of his camera.
Thanks 4 looking, Mark Petros BallPython777.com

I feel like everyone is getting lucys from breeding several dif traits (mojave, lesser, etc) together. Any shot we are all going to find out this is a much easier trait to produce than we once thoguht?

Thoughts, am I nuts? I love a blue eyed lucy, one of the coolest snakes on the planet, but I'm just a bit cautious! Either way, a lucy will always have a place in my collection.

We've already found out that they are much easier to produce than once thought

....is people honestly labeling their 'Leucistics'.

I'd hate to buy a ButterXMojave Leucistic for my breeding projects and end up with Lesser Plattys when I breed it.

Not crapping on Lessers. Lessers aren't a disappointment.
Just illustrating my point.

Butter X Butter
Lesser X Phantom
Butter X Phantom
Russo X Phantom
Lesser X Butter
Lesser X Mojave
Lesser X Lesser
Mojave X Mojave
Russo X Lesser
Russo X Mojave
Russo X Butter
Russo X Russo

I know, I know, the various 'recipes' leave you with snakes of differing 'whiteness.'
Some are bone-white.
Some are chalk-white.
Some are lily-white.
Some have a dorsal stripe.
Some don't have a dorsal stripe.

It's enough that I think the average person needed to start taking notes YEARS AGO to know the differences between the various Blue-eyed, white-coloured Ball Pythons. lol

What about variation?
Will EVERY LesserXButter look the same? Might some have a dorsal stripe while others don't??

BB

PS: I'm aware a couple of the breedings I've listed haven't been done yet. It doesn't take a rocket scientist at this point to predict which combos will yield Blue-Eyed Leucistics.
I wrestled with listing MojaveXPhantom since I don't expect a white snake. I predict a MojaveXPhantom cross will be darker than a Super Mojave, but lighter than a Super Phantom. Anyone else expect the same from a MojaveXPhantom breeding?
