DIY Incubator...

jespythonz Sep 11, 2008 06:54 PM

Ok, so later on this season it is quite possible I'll have 2 clutches and the year after than I should have around 5-6 clutches. I need to make an incubator that is good quality but not super expensive like the industrial grade ones. I've heard of gutting a mini-fridge and putting a strip of heat tape with computer fans on the top and bottom run with a helix. Is this a perfectly good method because if it is I'll just find a broken mini-fridge on Craigslist and get some heat tape from my friend. I've already got the helix so this may be relatively inexpensive for me but I just wanted to get some opinions. Thanks a bunch.

I used a styrofoam meat cooler and a piece of heat tape. Hatched out two clutches of pastels and normals.

Hi,

Hey look up damon Salseies website. Albinochondro or something of the sort. REALLY great design and will handle 3-6 clutches. Very clean and does not weigh 300 lbs.

HI Matt,

The Salseies incubator is a truck size camping cooler. BIG sucker!! I wanna say 48L x 16w x 16h. GUESStimate on size. You can buy them at walmart.

When My incubator was destroyed in the flood I still had 2 clutches remaining. I took my 50qt rubbermaid 5 day cooler and it worked GREAT!!!! It saved a lot of eggs I would have lost.

Fortunately, I only had 2 clutches remaining to incubate. THAT is all the 50qt could handle. WOULD however make a great leopard gecko incubator.
