She's turning out real nice--

anthony james mc Sep 11, 2008 08:38 PM

Made this Pastel 66% Poss Het Genetic Stripe last October.. I think for her size and age she is holding her colors really well.. Almost makes me wonder if I have another gene in there cleaning things up or something? I know where she came from so I'm trying to figure out what if anything is going on.. I have hatched out alot of really nice Pastels over the years but this one always catches my eye when I slide out her tub... Anyway just a couple cool pics of her for now.. Thought they were worth sharing . Anthony McCain

Kinda looks like it has the same thing going on with it like the desert ghost het clowns. It looks like the genetic stripe gene is coming out in it. If it is a het that is. I would love to see that model as a stripe, very nice.

I hear ya, here is her half sibling Pastel Genetic Stripe.. I would really like to make a Super Pastel G Stripe with this Pastel Stripe male and the female Pastel Poss Het pictured above, thinking it could turn out pretty nice... Anthony McCain.

I get the idea that stripe might be a bit like pied in showing through in the hets some times. Have you noticed het stripes (pastel or not) tending to be brighter/more contrast? Maybe not every one but a sporadic thing like the strong tendency in het pieds for the marker belly. Maybe another morph that isn’t as text book recessive as some others. Also seems like you hear of pastel bringing that tendency out even more in some recessive hets.

By the way, has anyone crossed pied and striped yet? Doesn’t seem like a high priority cross but thought of it while looking my het stripe over just the other day.

Hey Anthony ,

there's nothing going on.... except for the fact that I would bet she is Het Stripe . anyone who has produced Het stripes knows they all have a degree of string of their own...at least everyone (100% het ) I've seen .Matybe it depends on the line of Stripe(particular sire)All of John's(RMJ) Het Stripes have stripe...every one of them ...you'r just is also a pastel

I know what your refering to , I have been working with Het Genetic Stripes for about 7 years now.. Alot tend to have a "Black Back" look to them with irregular "stretched out" aliens spots on their sides.. I have a few other Pastel 66% Het G Stripes from the same Pastel Het Stripe sire and they don't look nearly as clean as the female Pastel in that post.. You see the Pastel Het Stripe has a very odd looking grandma , she was just a very light Import that I had raised up, the thing is she has produced some of the lightest snakes I own , using different males too, so I think she may be some sort of codom hypo , she isn't a Fire but she does have that sort of a look to her (kinda like a Het Super Stripe/Whirlwind look).. If that female wasn't making Pastels from various lines that look as good when they are subadults as they did as babies I wouldn't think twice about it, but if a Pastel holds it's color like that it makes me wonder since Pastels are generally know for darkening up/browning up as they mature.. Here's another Pastel , this came from that really nice female Ch adult and she still looks this good today.. I'll eventually breed some of this stuff out and I think if something is there I will be able to tell.. Anthony McCain..
