Suriname Pile.

I just love how they all want to pile up.

I am a firm believer in just letting them stay in moms cage " without mom, " until the first shed.

They just seem to do better.

The last few days, I have had time to really give these girls and boys, a really good look and I am AMAZED at the color that is already trying to come in and they are just a few days old.

This is one of the most consistent bunch of babies in a litter for " peeks and overall markings and color and huge tails, " that I have seen in a good while " not an average one in the bunch " and I would feel the same if they were at someone elses house.

Look forward to sharing pictures with everyone in the coming weeks.

Thanks, John J

This latest litter was a bit of an experiment for me in terms of keeping them together after birth. Last year, both litters I had immediately went into individual tubs.
The babies were healthy and did well, but many were a bit hissy and struck quite often (which I expected).
I have recently heard that keeping them together can theoretically lead to more calm behavior so I decided to give it a shot. I'm amazed at how calm they are when they're all huddled up together! The true test will be to see how they are once they've shed.
And you're right, it's just too funny that they all hang out like that. Constantly moving and improving position. Watching those behaviors is SO interesting and rewarding!
You're got some real nice ones there JJ. Best of luck with them and thanks for the post!

Thanks, JB.

You will definately get first vote for colored litter!

Color overides most everything for me and your new babies should be real Face Melters!.......JJ

I am looking forward to seeing what your Big Hoss is going to do?

Every picture you have posted of her, seems to indicate, that she is Gravid and hopefully, she will have a nice Surprise for you soon!

You know how it is.

Getting them born is important, but then you got the first shed and meals to give, before you can take a deep breath.

These were very much full term and hardly any yolk in the belly at all.

Funny little things are already showing signs of looking for a meal, but I learned years ago not to feed until after the first shed.

I sure wish that one of the Peruvians would surprise me this year, but hopefully next year, they will come through?

Take Care, John J
