I am 300 miles from home. We had to evacuate, and our town took a direct hit from the hurricane. Initial news is that our home is still in tact, but we will know more when we go back. The roof is damaged, but we don't know if and to what extent it has been breeched. The large tree right next to the house is now in 4 giant pieces, there is no fence, and we really don't know more than that.

All of my birds and lizards are being cared for in the homes of two very trusted and wonderful friends. They will stay there until we get back to Houston and assess damage, get power back up, and do any clean up or repairs that we need to do.

My collareds are entertaining their hostess! I hated to have to part with them for now, but grateful that they are getting the very best care second only to me and home!

Sure hoping your home is intact when ya get back, and very happy that your safe and sound, as well as your critters. Our hearts go out to all those who have suffered loses from this nasty storm.

hey sorry about the joke i made a week earlier about little ikie. i didnt know how serious this storm was gonna be!! all i know is my boy ike is a sweet guy. so dont let hurricane Ike ruin the name. lol!! i hope your home is ok and am glad you are safe. i was wondering the whole what was happening to you down there and it wieghed on mind. glad everythings ok. so on behalf of ike and the rest of my guys i wish you good luck!!!

I'm glad to hear you are safe. Hopefully the damage will not be any worse than what you already know.
