wbcrows Sep 13, 2008 05:48 PM

I've defrosted fuzzies before in a glass of hot water and let it sit for a while and fed my brooksi

I defrosted a pinky but it floated....never saw taht with a fuzzy. is that normal? I only ask because my gray banded refused to eat it

Yeah, pinkies float. I guess they're less dense than water. Maybe because they have a higher water content by volume than a more developed animal and since the water in their bodies is frozen (and ice is less dense than liquid water), they are in turn less dense than they are thawed and therefore float like ice cubes. That's my guess. If you leave them in long enough they sink.

Anyway, it shouldn't make a difference. I had to descent pinks for my GBK and one of my Cali's for a while to make them take f/t. I used plain bar soap to wash off the scent. Worked like a charm.

Yep...I've had some float, some sink.....but eventually they all end up at the bottom of the glass after about 10 minutes.
