True "snow" Nics

jonathan-m Sep 14, 2008 08:20 AM

Hey guys. As I was looking around at some nics recently, I started to wonder if anyone is working on a "true nic snow" project.
With t-pos albino nics being fairly prevalent, and anery nics being around as well, It would be a possible project, although with t-positives I'm not sure exactly how "snowy" the animals would come out. It would seem like a very interesting project though.
So has anyone tried this, or is anyone working on it now?

This year I bred 1 of my smaller Snows to a killer-looking Nic with the intention of producing Dwarfs from these DHets. The Albino and Anery genes are of course Columbian, but these little guys and gals have all indications of staying Central American size. This should be pretty neat project for someone ... I am still undecided if I am going to keep any of these for myself.

It is unlikely that I will be able to repeat this breeding (in fact, I am not trying) due to the size of my Snow males.

There you go ... Bill

You know, although it means spreading around those ubiquitous Colombian genes around again, in this case it's probably better than making those "don't eat the yellow" snows! : ) Ha ha ha What do you think they would look like, and what would you call them, tyrosinows?

You made me use my dictionary ... using words way too big for me. You need to send this one in to Bill O'Reilly ... I am sure he would use it on his show.

Anyways, I would not expect any color variations ... simply a Dwarf or Minature Snow. I forgot to mention in my former post that the mother in this pairing was the Nic ... a 2005, 4' female. Most breeders put small males on hugh females ... I did the reverse.

I don't know how many breed for size, nor do I know what the offspring will be. But the consensus among breeders I surveyed is that they will be small. Only time will tell.
