This male is 5ft I cant tell if hes a red or not the flash washes it out. And he's in shed. I'm not sure if Ginter has a red line or not... He's definitely has a lot of black though!

He's getting huge. I like how dark he is, pretty cool.
I have a female from Ginters. She on breeder loan with Scott Robinson. I have seen her for a year but she's a real looker.

thanks for the complements!
I got this line from a friend back in 1992. He was a keeper at the Stanton Island Zoo out in NY and at some point they collected the founders in Burlington Co. NJ from an old depression era CCC work camp foundation. I think that they ended up calling the spot "Dave's hole" because it was really good herping....don't ask, I have no idea who dave was.
At any rate, my founders from that group have always been highlighted with some nice reddish tinges, and over the years I have attempted to select for this. I always turned away folks looking for the classic "newspaper" black and white northerns as this group would never meet their expectations.
A few years ago my buddy Travis showed me a male that he got from me and the snake was literally black and red! Weird thing was that the snake started out looking quite normal (not that much red) then turned red around a year old (the entire ground color was red!) and then after a few years all the red turned chocolate brown. It is still an unusual looking snake (brown and black) but does not have a fleck of red! Have any of you eastern guys ever seen a wild northern that was brown and black?
I will see if I can get a picture of him in his current state and post it.
I bred the "red " male with his mother and now hope to breed a F3 male from that union back to the F1 mother in 2009. Mom is going on 17yrs old but still a vibrant, hardy animal!

Post a pic of your Ginter Npine
I am working on getting so pics.
