Big thanks to Brian Potter...kind of..

evansnakes Sep 14, 2008 09:40 PM

I picked out a smoking little male pinstripe from Brian years back at the Tinley Park show in a deal we did. It is a very reduced, very brightly colored pin, definitely above average. He has eaten great since I got him and I have been very happy with him, except one small detail.

After trying for two seasons to breed him to many many girls I started to think that Brian gave me the rarest of ball pythons, a gay one. He had no interest in the ladies whatsoever and was causing me deep emotional trauma.

This year we had a breakthrough! He copulated with several girls, fathering no clutches, but doing the dirty deed none the less! I was pretty encouraged. So I decided to just leave him in with one female for months. I have never done that before but it seemed like a punishment fit for the crime.

Today I am very pleased to say that I have some beautiful baby pinstripes 100% het for pied hatching out. So depsite the best efforts of both the snake and Brian to thwart my breeding plans, I finally have babies! How about some pied lemon blasts next time around?

I kid but big thanks to the Potter man. I could not have done it without your gay snake. E

...seems to be the magic number. I have had several Balls...that at best breed 1 or 2 Females at less than 3 years...but all of a sudden at the 3 year mark 4 to 5 clutches.
