I went into petsmart yesterday to buy an anole for a feeder. I had to say it was for my daughter because they do not sell feeder animals. However, they had two baby corn snakes for sale. I asked the sales lady what they fed the snakes and she said they have been trying to feed them crickets for weeks now and they will not eat. Guess they are into killing reptiles too. Why would they even sell snakes that eat mice if they do not sell feeder mice!!!

That's crazy. pet stores are pet stores i could never stand them.

Maybe they (store workers) should be made to eat a few crickets.

yup i see this kind of stuff everytime i go to places like petco. its usually petco that has dieing animals. when i was in florida, me and my friend always saw poor little newborn corns just suffering because the employees dont know a thing about them. its just sad. they dont even sell pinkies small enough for the baby corns, so how could they even feed them. its just rediculous.

Probably a new worker...you never know. Besides they do sell feeders, T-rex frozen pinkies...

She shouldn't have opened her mouth about feeding the snake crickets if she wasn't sure.

I can understand for these workers and besides...what level of education would you need to work at these pet stores?

It is simply a ploy(hoop) of political nonsense and "red tape" the store has to jump through to up ease all these idiotic animal activist groups that want to stop the sales of feeder rodents.

Meanwhile, the TRUE irony that these groups don't give two craps about is the fact that the snake's simply sit and starve to death from being "offered" crickets instead of what they actually eat,.....MICE!!!!...killing snakes is fine to do, but kill a mouse, and they want to send you to prison for life!..LOL!

If snakes had big brown eyes, and cuddly, fluffy fur instead of scales, it would be an ENTIRELY different situation with these groups!!

Many other things in life are ass-backwards just like this. This sort of silly crap irks me to no end!!

How come none of this surprises me?

I did a snake and tortoise presentation for the second grade classes at my fiancee's school last year and a little boy came up to me and told me about his ball python. It turns out they had rescued the snake from someone who was trying to "teach it" to eat lettuce. I'm not, like, all gushy and oversensitive, but I got really angry at the thought of these jokers starving that poor snake. I don't know whether to hate ignorance or to simply be amazed by it!

So what happened to the corn snakes in question?

Lettuce!? whoa now that's getting too far. Strange people out there.

I think those very same people should be "TAUGHT" to eat concrete, or tar paper, or any other similar material.

BTW,...I'm suuuure the Ball Python "learned" to eat the lettuce too!(sarcasm).......some people are just unbelievably insane!

I went back in and told her to feed the thing f/t mice if they have them. Kind of threw her off but at least she knows. Beautiful little corn--black blotched phase-- I almost bought the thing just to save it!

And, of course we all know that all the dog food and cat food sold at these stores along with all of the dried rawhide, cow and pigs ears, tails, feet, bones, and penis' are made out of nuts, berries, vegtables, and leaves..RIGHT????

SAVE THE MICE!!!
Unless they are on my property or in my house of course!

Well stated. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but what I find ironic & bass ackwards with the people on the save the rodents ban wagon is (speaking on an animals in the wild prospective) these cute little furballs there so desperate to protect are more threatening to human civilization with the possibility of spreading disease or competeing for our food sorces then the scaley, legless & truely nonthreatening animals that actually contribute to preventing rodents from becoming a huge problem in the world.
We all know the trials of life are not pretty, but we do have to respect it.
