How long should you wait...

before shipping after feeding? We had a bad experience when we bought our first snake that had to be shipped, regurged in the bag and was DOA (great first experience, eh?). But now that we've started selling some of our snakes I just wanted to know if there was a rule of thumb on this.

I wait 8 or more days. Basically once it poops out its last meal, so that theirs no mess in the bag.

get a defecation out of them prior to shipping. But I have shipped numerous times after feeding about a week prior.

I'm actually shipping one out today that was fed 5 days ago. I'm confident there will be no problems because A. I know the boa and hes very robust ... seems to digest quickly and B. He was fed an extra small meal.

But, ideally, I'd rather wait until I get a defecation prior to shipping.

When I ship out babies, I wait untill after they have pooped...I put a good handful of shredded paper inside the snake bag as well, to absorb anything extra they might pass while being shipped.

I think it's always important to do this...for the sake of the snake and your customer...

Having recently received a 6' boa that had gone mudbogging in a sizeable poo in her bag during shipping, it was not the happy 'new snake' experience I had expected, LOL...

Trying to clean off a smelly, angry snake striking at me like a mad woman, with chunks flying off of her in all directions in my bathroom, did not make for a good morning...

I agree Heather that's no fun,LOL. Like most my Boas run the other way after defecating. Several actually apply great effort to extricate themselves.
Then there are those strange odd balls that feel they must crawl through this mess several times before I reach them,LOL Never any fun,LOL
