Does every collection have...

senorsnake Sep 16, 2008 02:27 AM

that one nasty tempered snake? Mine is a male brazilian rainbow boa, he bit me three times today while I was cleaning his cage. He has bitten me more than all of my other snakes combined. Just wondering if anyone else had one of these guys in your collection, there to keep you on your toes. :P

If you only have one nasty one, you are lucky.

Mine does. The most aggressive one that I have is my male hypo Sonoran, "Binky." Everyone says that Sonorans are big bluffers...this boy is NOT Bluffing. He doesn't hesitate to strike.

i unfortunently didnt know that the albino stripeline has a tendency to have "less than friendly" temperment and my albino boa starts striking when u get into the room... shes pushing 15 pounds now ....cleaning the cage is fun =)....idk how bad yours is but i have a few that have [bleep]ty temperment as well...

My worst is a reverse stripe female BCI. Her big problem is she's very food aggressive. IMO she's genetically predispositioned to be a big un and she's just hungry. When fed more she's not nearly as bad. Once I break her feeding response with a touch to the head with a hook, she's "usually" fine to handle.

My 6 boas are all really good animals. The ones that keep me on my toes are my 15 amazons trees and 5 spilotes.

My big albino girl can be nasty but it's mainly just because she has an amzing feeding response and is always on alert until I can mist her or touch her with a hook. She got me good one time... I'd like to keep that from repeating. heh
This is the only one I have that will bite every time, even after I've got her out and things are going fine, she'll just turn and get me. She tagged my arm last night in fact the little brat but I love her.

I have a few that are nasty. However, I have this boa that was as sweet as can be until she gave birth to a pile of slugs this past season. Now she attacks the glass like a pit bull. She literally strikes the glass and tries to chew her way through at me.

Yes I have a high pink Argentine fem that is very nasty. Sometimes she fools me into thinking she's changed her ways(although inside I know better)
Then BAM she tries to hit me as hard as she can. I have a few others that seem to be changing their nice ways as well,LOL
Spot cleaning or changing water becomes tricky with these types.
