Who are you???

rainbowsrus Sep 16, 2008 11:30 AM

Thought it was about time for another roll call, who are you what do you want to tell us about yourself etc. It's always been a fun thread in the past so.....

I'm Dave Colling

Like most of us, been catching and checking out critters since I was a kid. Now pushing 48 years old and still a kid at heart catching and playing with critters

Lived in sunny California since I was 9. Moved to San Jose 25 years ago to work for IBM and have been here ever since.

Met my wife, Desiree, 22 years ago, literally ran into each other in a hallway at work. Exactly 2 years later we were married. Seriously the love of my life and the best thing that ever happened to me. Most if not all the high points in my life are either directly related to our relationship or at least well supported by it.

We have two daughters:
Andrea is almost 17, a senior in high school and my animal lover. She helps me quite a bit taking care of the snakes. She's vegetarian so won't help or have anything to do with feeding but will and does help with cage cleaning.

Jessica is 14, a Sophomore in high school is not so much into animals but is quite the social butterfly. Always has some activity or another going on. Now she's doing color guard, part of the high school marching band, the group with the flags. Lol, she's in marching band and her instrument is the flag!!

My first captive snake was a WC gopher snake about 22 years ago. I caught many snakes as a kid but mom would not let me keep them.

Like many of us, one leads to another lol, I got my first BRB in 1988, yeah, 20 years ago!! And been adding to my collection ever since.

My other hobbies include....

Woodworking - made many of my own cages and have even made new cabinets for our Kitchen. My father in-law being a cabinet maker by trade didn't hurt but even he will tell you, I did this mostly on my own. Kinda fun to see him showing off my cabinets when we have people over. He and I are like two peas in a pod.

Snow skiing - started skiing in high school (way before snow boards were invented) and still go every year.

Water skiing - Started water-skiing around 20ish years ago and took right to it. Not a huge difference from snow skiing (other than the water is much warmer) and that has evolved into water-skiing without actual skis!! I still slalom but now do a lot of barefoot skiing.

Here's a pic of me "walking on water"

ha-ha Dave! I was in color guard during High School Freshman year. Good fun! Of course then I turned goth and finally skater punk and left that stuff behind. Ah, to be young again.

I'm April (absolutely!) and I've been keeping reptiles for 10 years. My snakes are my pets first and sometimes I breed them to help pay for new snakes. I have a small and ever-expanding collection that mainly consists of colombian boa constrictors as well as a pair of hog isles, some ATBs and a couple corn snakes. I started with a ball python and corn snake long ago in a land far, far away and never looked back. I could not imagine my life without my reptiles now.

I am engaged to my high school sweetheart. We dated when we were 17, 18 and lost touch. 13 years later I found him on Myspace and we're getting married in 2010. My dad and my fiance are the two most important people in my life and make every day a joy. (ok, almost every day lol)

Other hobbies... well I don't have much since work and caring for animals takes up most of the time, but I do enjoy reading, drawing, hiking and camping. I've lived in a few different places but I always end up back here in the Bay Area, CA.

When I first started keeping reptiles I fed live and I remember one of my first posts on this board back in 99 was asking if my boa was a Bci or Bcc. I've learned a lot and continue to learn every day.

That's me in a nutshell, back to your regularly scheduled pic sharing.

Well, my name is Stephanie Siebert. I'm a 25yr old gal livin' in Oregon with my fiance, who luckily fully supports my reptile hobby.
I grew up out of town in the woods, I spent all my childhood catching bass, catfish, frogs, and polliwogs out of our pond; as well as lizards and smelly wild snakes from our yard and surrounding property.
Got my first boa 5 years ago and discovered an image of a sunglow while researching her care... from then on I was hopelessly addicted. My first morph was a male anery, and then an albino... I'm working my way up still of course... when I get my first sunglow, I will probably wet my pants! LOL! No really though, my DH sunglow female will probably be ready late this season or early next for my male albino and I will have attained my first dream on my own... now to focus on the next 100!
Aside from that, I am planning on going to go back to school soon, currently working full time as a peon in a company that reprocesses medical devices (really not a bad job), and also working a second job at home in my snake and rat rooms! ;p
I love to draw too; it's my second hobby. I use graphite, airbrush, color pencils etc. I'd love to show some pictures, but they generally consist of nude ladies, nymphs, etc. usually with dragons or monsters in the picture too. I do not think they would go over very well on here!
That about covers me in a nutshell...
Here is my mutt Ty and I.

The boa that started it all, Ophelia, a Petco boa! LOL! Now about 5 years old...

Thanks for looking!
