Never fed guinea pigs to my snakes...

But help me understand, aren't guinea pigs bigger then rats? If you're out of med and small rats how would guinea pigs help?

Snakes can go weeks without food so could you reduce your feeding schedule and/or supplement with mice?

I personally recomend not feedng guinea pig's because the fat content is very high and causes digestion problems and smelly waxy stools. Your snakes should be fine until you aquire more rats, as long as they are healthy. If it is a matter of one or two meals you should not have a problem switching back to rats, again I would let them skip a meal or two until rats can be obtained. Just my opinion.

yah the thing is i get my rodents from rodentpro and there out of the sizes i need they claim there small guiena pigs are comprable to medium rats...the small rats ill just feed large mice until i get more small rats....but if u get loose stools and high fat contents i will stay away from guiena pigs....thanks a lot every one!!appreciate it alot

Good choice, I buy from the same source and just bought med rats from them on sunday the 14th, I did see they were out of smalls so I just ordered extra weanlings to get me through. Maybe try that, but seriously "we" get so obsessed with weekly feedings it can get crazy. In the wild they may go weeks and even months without food! I feed females twice maybe three times a month, the males are fed once a month as a maintenance diet. I even think it is a good thing to skip a meal every now and then, causing them to become active and get some exercise and develope their muscles! As with people diet and exercise!
