mating question

Will a female Eastern Box turtle mount as a male will? I have been observing this behavior in one of ours which I thought was a female.

I have a few females which will mount another female and if a male turtle is younger and shy and the female a largera a liitle of the bully type, I don't see why it can't happen.

They don't know another turtle as a male or female unless they react to cues produced by the turtle by being submissive or assertive.

My males and placed in seperates pens-one ornate and one three-toed in each and they will try to mount each other-so why not a female onto a male? It is a show of dominance and not desire. But of couurse-it could be that your female is really a male. Hard to tell sometimes Tess
