I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the average scale depths are for probing Childern's Pythons.

Females typically probe 3 to 4 subcaudals, with males between 8 and 12.

Thank You. I've been getting 6 or so when I probe mine, so I guess that confirms male.

you are probing very young ones.

Actually, the animal in question is 3 years old. I bought it as a female and just recently decided to probe to make sure because it was very small for a female (20 1/2 inches). It presents as female when you try to pop it, but I'm getting between 6 and 8 scales when I probe. I've had others try with similar results. I just wanted to get an accurate baseline for scale depths. I wanted to make sure they were't like Carpets and Scrubs, with females probing up to 9 scales.
