Why are the eyes of a leucistic animal blackish-blue?

rich_123 Sep 05, 2003 11:41 PM

I know why the eyes of albinos are pink but I don't see what physically causes a leucistic to have blackish-blue eyes.

Albinos have pink eyes because they lack black pigment in the iris and retina. Leucistics have some black pigment in the iris and retina.
