Supplemental heat for vision cages???

Joel_Thomas Sep 17, 2008 03:51 PM

I have in the past used space heaters to apply supplemental heat to the snake room, which always made me nervous. Anyone out there have any suggestions for additional heat? The ambient room temperature during the winter is around 67 degrees without space heaters, I still have good hot spot heat and the snakes never seem to "bunch up" under the light. I use to live in Florida and never had to deal with a winter, Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

For years I have used Exoterra Heatwave pads attached to the outside bottoms of Vision cages with foil tape. Temp controlled by rheoststs and monitored with a temp gun. Very safe and no problems what so ever. Bill

Joel,
...I use flexwatt controlled with a proportional thermostat under my Vision cages. Flexwatt works good because it is thin.

I have the same problem. Right over the heat source is warm but the air temps are still 67, not 80. What do you do abou tthe cool side of the cage and air temps?
