I've noticed that my harlequins really flare up in color during the first 24-48 hours of digesting as well. I haven't noticed it as much in my other boas, but I wasn't really looking for it either. It's neat to see, makes you wish they'd keep the color all the time, huh?

It seems that " heat and digestion and especially being pissed off, makes them color up nicely. "
I have some little Surinames, that you can have them in the palm of your hand and they will be huffing and puffing and you can watch them change colors right there in front of you. "
