Caging and Breeding

I am housing 2 5 ft Jungle Carpet pythons (male and female) temporarily in a 40 gallon "cube". Is this enough space for them? They aren't especially active.

I also wish to breed them come winter. Is it a problem that they are housed together all year? Is space an issue?
