blizzard colors

trex8692 Sep 18, 2008 05:59 PM

recently i found out my leucistic was a blizzard baby so im asking

what kind of color range is possible for a blizzard? i think its anything from grayish to whiteish and possible very dark gray?

and how long do you think it will take before my baby gets into its adult colors?

its about 5 inches long and is still predominately purple with lots of yellow scales (not patterns but just the small scale bumps that are all over the gecko) [sometimes i think of them as gecko pimples]

tail is kinda translucent and hes lost his blue head coloring

You are correct. Blizzards do have a wide range of colar. I've seen them with alot of yellow in them often refered to as Banana Blizzards & very dark gray which are refered to as Midnight Blizzards.
Over the years I've had 5 of them & they all varried in colar from one another. I've even had them with hints of brown & green.
Blizzard are pretty straight forward as far as there colars go. So I would have to guess the colar yours has know won't chage much more as it gets older.

Banana Blizzards are a cross of a Blizzard and Paternless. Midnights are as far as I'm concerned on the subject incubated and kept at cooler conditions thus darker colors. A warmer hot spot results in a lighter colored animal. You can find evidence of this in Ron Tremper's book and on his web site. If you want a whiter blizzard you need a blazing blizzard which is an albino blizzard. Although if kept cool enough they could probably be a little darker too. It's always good to hear of another person happy with blizzards I have 8, most of which were sired or grand sired by my original male .
