Temperature Question

LordBaal Sep 18, 2008 09:09 PM

My cage for my 2 month old is
92o top bottom temp
85o low bottom temp
82o center of cage temp(temp taken along grapevine)
55-60( /-5) Humidity

How am I doing? what temps do I need to readjust.

The breeder I got him from told me they get their heat from their belly so no light for heat is needed.

I have the cage on a heating pad, keeping it 90-92 in the hottest spot on the floor
with a gradient outward to 85ish

Then a small 25 watt light ontop of the cage to raise the ambient air temp to low 80's(turned off at night)

I am thinking I need to replace this bulb with a blue one. So I can leave it on all night.

Do I still then need to supply yellow light during the day, for the nocturnal clock thing?

Thanks

they need no light
they need 84 to 90-ish
...your temps aren't bad.....if the snake cruises all the time it is too hot,,,it may lay in water bowl all the time too if too hot or too cold...
if it seems calm...it's fine....

....seems ok to me....see what temps without the light (day and night)........substrate temp is what they feel most,....
