32 quart tub big enough for adult balls?

knottydread Sep 19, 2008 12:16 PM

Hi,

I'm looking into getting a rack from AP that uses 32 Quart tubs. Will this be big enough for adult ball pythons?

It seems to be the cheapest solution for a rack 10 high (only $400).

Thanks!

I don't think females could fit comfortably in that size.
I thought about it but went with the CB70s for females.
This is an average size adult female in a 32qt tub. Not enough room IMO.

So the CB70 is actually a bigger tub and would be big enough for adult balls comfortably?

I agree, the adult did not look happy in the 32 quart tub.

Any pics of your females in the CB70?

Thanks!

Ali now sells a cb 70 rack in his economy plastics line that is 10 high for only $400.00
I have two of his economy plastic racks for 32qt tubs and I love them, I have them stacked. Next month I'll be getting my cb70 rack, I can't wait!!
You just can't beat his price.

they like the cb70 and other 34 inch boxes better than 32 qt..
I bred balls in 28 qt rubbermaids....it works...but they could be happier......

....I still have one 28 qt rack, but as of a couple hours ago...I made room to move stuff around...and smaller males will go into the 28's,not smaller females....

.......buy as big as you have room for....better now than later...

What are the dimensions on those CB 70 tubs? Are there any bigger tubs commercial tubs, maybe used by boa people?

I built a hollow core door rack mostly from remodel scrap with some sweater boxes I found at Sam’s Club that are about 38 inches by 22 inches but I have a couple females that I would like something bigger for. I've got one old 4 ft Neodesha I’ve kept them in before but in my climate it's hard to keep those from being so dry you have shed problems and in a lot of ways tubs are best (security for the snake, temperature and humidity control, etc). I’m just not sure there is a tub for the biggest female ball pythons.

Hey Randy, check out arscaging.com or freedombreeder.com. They make rack systems for larger snakes as well as smaller ones. I also believe Vision makes a large rack.

Don't buy...build.
Go to home depot and pick up one of those plastic utility racks.
You can cut the tubes down to the right height with a hacksaw quite easily. I cut them so that 41 qt latchtop boxes fit in them snuggly.
Slap the rack together, through on some heat tape, and you're looking at a 5 slot rack for about $100 with tubs and heat.
Get two and you can build them higher.

I've also heard of people attaching pegboard to the bottoms of the shelves and using the boxes lidless, but I have cats that get into everything, so...not for me.

This isn't my pic, but it's the general idea. 41 qt boxes fit in lengthwise.

that looks like a cool and easy home project. How hard is heat tape to install.
how does it work?

I agree, BUILD! Here are two racks I built out of hollow core doors. Ignore the missmatched stains. I will be painting over it anyway. These are two racks I just finished. The first one is a 30 bin rack for 6 qt shoe boxs. Total cost not including heat and thermostats is $75 dollars. Can't beat that!

The next back is an 18 tub rack for 32 qt tubs for my males and smaller females. I need to find some CB70 for my breeder female racks but so far 32 qt tubs are suiting them just fine but I agree they do not look comfortable in there. Material cost for this rack was $150

I used the plans from Gus at Rio Bravo with just some slight modifications.
